Download My SciTE Configuration Files

(updated 2012-05-04; SciTE v3.04)

Note: You do NOT install SciTE.  It is a standalone executable.  If you don't know what that means, place it in C:\portable_apps\wscite (create folders as necessary).

You can also use my abbreviations file (place it in C:\Users\<username>\abbrev.properties).

Styled languages include the following:

  1. Assembly
  2. Bash
  3. Batch
  4. CSS
  5. Erlang
  6. HTML
  7. Java
  8. JavaScript
  9. Perl
  10. PHP
  11. Python
  12. R
  13. Ruby
  14. SQL
  15. TCL
  16. XML

SciTE (docs) is a great text editor.  It is simple, tabbed, and highly configurable through configuration (*.properties) files.  SciTE has excellent behavior for a text editor (the "home" button does what you expect, etc).

Since you can configure how everything looks in SciTE, I took the time to make a theme that I started using when I got headaches at university from looking at a bright white screen for too long.  I have updated it a few times, and I post the updates here.  SciTE is a standalone program--you don't have to install it; just rune the .exe.  Feel free to download it from this page.  You can learn how to modify it by reading this doc.  The great thing about config files is that they persist--you don't have to make all your configuration settings every time you install the program (and have them saved in, for example, the registry).

Similar Themes for Other Things

Winmerge portable (standalone program: put it in C:\portable_apps\winmerge if you don't know what to do with it)

NetBeans 7.0.1 Settings (get the caret to stop blinking here)

PortaPutty default settings (copy this to ...\portaputty\.putty\sessions\Default%20Settings)

Command Prompt (Copy to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar)

Pidgin GTK files (put them in .../GTK/etc/gtk-2.0)
